Recently, we have noticed more conversations revolving around our shop and maintenance policies. We would like to open a dialogue with all Crete, Shaffer and Hunt personnel to receive your input and to provide information about what is taking place at our facilities. We would also like to hear what is working well for you and areas where we can improve. We want this to be a constructive conversation that will help us improve and serve your needs more effectively and efficiently. We would like to open the discussion with some information on Preventive Maintenance. During a PM, three areas where we focus attention are: tires, lights, and brakes. Having PMs done at Crete shops reduces breakdown costs and improve your up time by allowing our Technicians to thoroughly inspect and repair the equipment while it is at a company facility. Having the PM done at our shops and on time decreases the frequency of time spent sitting on the side of the road waiting for a repair vendor to arrive. The window for having PM’s done starts at 2,500 miles prior to the PM due mileage and ends 2,500 miles after the PM due mileage. This is a 5,000 mile window and typically gives you around 2 weeks. At outside shops, PMs are basic oil change and lube and not the more thorough preventative maintenance review we conduct at our own shops.
