Reception Volunteer with the Students Union (ID Ref 373) The purpose of the role is to be the first point of contact for the Students’ Union, dealing with student and other visitor enquiries as appropriate, and to complete administrative tasks as required by the Students’ Union. You need to be friendly and approachable and interested in how the Students’ Union works. The role will give you the opportunity to acquire basic listening and information-giving skills; improve your IT skills, initiative & problem-solving skills, and your communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. You will be able to learn more about how the Union runs and how student services on campus work and will meet and assist students, staff and visitors from different cultural backgrounds. You will gain experience of working in a fast-paced working environment, a full references for your CV and a certificate for completed volunteering hours. As with all volunteer roles, you will receive the appropriate induction and training. Volunteering takes place in term-time only between the hours of 10-4pm, Monday-Friday and you need to be able to commit to a minimum of one 2 hour shift every week plus monthly 1:1 meetings with your supervisor.
