Redskins DeAngelo Hall: I’ll take myself in a heartbeat RICHMOND—So where does outspoken Redskins veteran DeAngelo Hall rank himself among NFL cornerbacks? So glad you asked. “As a corner, if you don’t feel like you’re the best, you’ve got a problem right there,” Hall said Thursday as training camp opened at the Bon Secours Training Center. “I never said I was the best. I would be a fool to think 11 years in [that] I’m the best in the game right now. [But] I definitely think I’m pretty successful at what I do.” Earlier this week, Hall took to Twitter to voice his displeasure with an unspecified league-wide ranking of cornerbacks. In response, Hall wrote: Im listening to this debate about whos the Best CB in the league. All I have to say is the film dont Lie... Go put mine on and lets talk. Last season, Hall had four interceptions, three forced fumbles, defended 13 passes and scored two touchdowns as the No. 1 corner for a pass defense that ranked 20th in yards allowed. Hall also matched up against the other teams top pass receiver more times than not. “Like I said, man, if you really watch film,” added the 30-year-old, who earned Pro Bowl berths in 2005, 2006 and 2010. “Let’s go watch film. I put my film against any corner in the league and we’ll see what he does and we’ll see what I do and we can go from there. I definitely think that if you put me out there against a receiver, any one of them, I’ll take my chances. I never said I was the best, but I definitely feel like I should be in the conversation.” Asked why he isn’t in that conversation more often, Hall shrugged. He also said he doesn’t care. “I don’t know,” he said. “Maybe my reputation. My reputation precedes me a little bit. It is what it is. I don’t go out there to try to please the media or the guys who are ranking corners. Probably early in my career I did. But now …the proof is in the pudding. It’s not about me saying I can do this or I can do that. At some point, I’m going to have to face Calvin [Johnson], I’m going to have to face Dez [Bryant] and those other [elite] guys. I let my play speak for itself. [And] if you sit down and watch film and compare my numbers against those guys—any corner—I’ll take myself in a heartbeat.”
