Reeses Peanut Butter Eggs By Marc Kind — 2 hours ago Stacey had a busy day having visits from both of our parents, Sky and Zach. Zach bought a beautiful bouquet of flowers including one of Staceys favorites, Gerber Dasies. After presenting his flowers to his mom, Zach immediately got into a conversation with her and began massaging her legs while kneeling in front of her wheelchair. Zach has a big heart. He can be very caring and these traits were on display both the night before while hanging with his sister and today with his mom. Before we drove in today we stopped at a couple of stores and the bank. Among other needs I wanted to find a stress ball that Stacey could grip in her right hand to help strengthen and to work her stiff index finger on this hand. I couldnt find any lingering in the house. Zach and I looked everywhere at a store. Where is a stress ball when you need one?! I was thinking, how many times have I declined one of these from some bank promo, miscelaneous business or a party favor. We finally settled on a dog toy ball that was knobby and a bit firm and a kids toy, a very squishy Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc. She can use Mike now and graduate to the more firm ball as she gains more strength. I also bought some Resees Peanut Butter Eggs. These are a favorite of hers and subsequently a favorite of all of ours. She used to buy us all a couple every Easter. I knew her game, she bought them for us but really so she could have them too. It worked because we all love them and now it is one of those family traditions every Easter season. I wanted the tradition to continue this year. Im going to ask her speech therapist if she can try to eat one, or two! Staceys eyes lit up when I presented them to her. We both agreed that they are the correct consistency for what she has been cleared to eat. I am thrilled since she has been afraid to eat most everything. Who can resist a Resees though...? We arrived at Magee fairly late but this gave her parents an opportunity to have a nice, quiet visit with their daughter. My parents visited later in the day as well. As always when our parents see her, they are amazed at her progress since they dont see her day-after-day. Both of our parents are both impressed, amazed and overjoyed with Staceys progress. When I experience their joy I feel so proud of Stacey and it helps me take stock in her progress as well since I am immersed in it everyday. Stace watched an episode of Downtown Abbey. Periodically she would give Mike W. a few squeezes. Sky read her book, Zach listened to music on his phone and I wrote todays journal entry. Tomorrow I hope to take Stace outside on the 2nd floor balcony to enjoy the weather. I cant wait...
