Reflecting on my day... I loved Custer State Park, but the more I think about how beautiful it was, the more offensive I find Mount Rushmore. It IS an artistic wonder, no doubt. But in many ways, it is a slap in the face to the natural beauty of that area, the land we stole from the Native Americans. To me, it represents one more insult to the native peoples by our egocentric, Manifest Destiny driven ancestors.
