Reflections 2015 : 04.01 : New Year’s greetings : When we wish one another , “Happy New Year”, what we mean is that there should be no sorrow, no illness, no failure, no misunderstanding , nothing that would cause pain or suffering. In reality we are wishing the other an early demise, because only in the next life will there be only peace, joy and happiness. In this life there is a mixture of good and bad. Happiness does not depend on what happens but on our attitude to what happens. When we are unhappy we blame the events of life but we should blame our response to what occurred. According to a Russian proverb , “The hammer that shatters glass forges steel”. The same hammer and the same blows cause glass to be shattered but steel to become stronger. All that happens in life is like that hammer. Our attitude will make or break us. We all know successful people who are unhappy because they feel they could have been more successful or because someone else is more successful . Similarly we know people facing the pain of tragedy bravely because they have faith that God is looking after them . This is my New Years’s wish for you: MAY WHATEVER HAPPENS IN 2015 BE A HAMMER THAT STRENGTHENS YOUR FAITH IN GOD’S CARE AND CONCERN FOR YOU .
