Reflections by Lavena Sellers Sociologists use lilacs to trail human migration patterns westward across the continent. Long after house and garden have disappeared, the resilient lilac often lingers, a final testimony to a once flourishing homestead. I have seen old homesteads in our rural area where buildings may be gone but the lilacs remain. A very dear friend passed away...she loved lilacs. Her driveway was lined with them. I thought of the trail of resilient lilacs and the lasting fragrance she left behind. She touched many lives and ours...she was there with the homemade chicken noodle soup when we were sick, she was there to share our grief when we lost a loved one, she came to sit beside us when words werent necessary. May we leave a trail of resilient lilacs and lasting fragrance behind us in our migration through life!
