Reflective thoughts- Day2 of the International Conference on Learning and Teaching: Students often remember the informal and hidden lessons not from the stated curriculum but from the attitudes, values and actions of the teachers within and outside the classroom... We teachers are the medium, we have the power to affect the lives of our students. The influence we have is not definitive.Nor limited to infusing young minds with ideas and knowledge. The list of influences can go on... It is non and will never be exhaustive. Young people are particularly in search of teachers who can inspire them to understand, to improve, and to become reflective learners for life. On this we must understand that to become most effective, we teachers must match the message... The medium must match the message. The challenge for us teachers is to confront our own prejudices and issues and commit to personal transformation so that we can be credible agents of social transformation, of societal change... I am not a perfect teacher, i have a lot of flaws and insecurities. Nor am i an artist teacher. Because i know i have a lot more to learn. But i am an EDUCATOR and my social responsibility is to inculcate and instill in my minds of my students what Mahatma Gandhi has advocated over and over...that "We must BE the CHANGE we wish to SEE in the WORLD"
