Reformed theology teaches that God causes darkness in the hearts - TopicsExpress

Reformed theology teaches that God causes darkness in the hearts of men by His own arbitrary choice to give light to some and withhold it from others. But scripture says that before He causes darkness, He warns men to give ear to Him, to not be proud, to give Him glory, and to humble themselves. He has given light to every man who enters the world (John 1:9); but when any man will not hear it is not because they COULD not (with the blame going to God), it is because they WOULD not (with the blame being all theirs.) When the light a person has been given is rejected, God sends a spirit of blindness and darkness. Gross darkness is the portion of every man who wastes his opportunity to enter the Lords marvelous light. Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken. Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness. But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away captive. (Jeremiah 13:15-17)
