Regarding Denise… On Sunday, June 23, 2013, Denise Roark passed away at her home. She was my best friend. Since then, I have been flooded with condolences and people asking what they can do for me or for her family. I’ve given this considerable thought. What can we do? We have faced an incredible loss. In case anyone is still wondering, this is what you can do for me. You can honor Denise. She was the most selfless person I think I’ve ever known. She did for others until she had no more strength to give. She was active with the Friends of the Library group and she was active with her church. She was more than that, though. No one came away from Denise Roark without being a little richer for having spent time with her. She was thoughtful, kind, and giving. She was never judgmental, and tried to see the best in everyone. If anyone needed help and asked her for it, they could count on her assistance, without condition or exception. I don’t know of anyone she touched that didn’t fall in love with her beautiful soul. So if you want to do something, honor her by becoming more like her. Love your fellow man. Become a servant to your community. Serve your God. Give of yourself. Be kind to animals. Live through her example. Let Denise’s light shine in you. In this way, she will never truly leave us. She will live on in the kind thoughts and deeds of those who choose to carry on in her example. She was timeless. She was beautiful. She was my friend. I loved her. I will miss her. I will honor her. Lisa Sellers
