Regarding Helmut Schoecks excellant but little known 1966 book: ENVY: A THEORY OF SOCIAL BEHAVIOR, There are incomplete, but tantalizing, indications of a Rand-Schoeck possible influence on each other. Either the Burns or the Heller biographies (sorry, I dont have those books immediately available for the exact citation) on Ayn Rand, mention that Helmut Schoeck had some interaction with Rand and her Inner Circle in the early 1960s.. To what extent they (Rand and Schoeck) influenced each others thought is not stated. Schoecks book does not list Rand in its index, and Rand later wrote an article, The Age of Envy, published in The Objectivist, but no mention or reference is made to Schoeck.or his book. Schoecks book has been reprinted by the Liberty Fund annd is available through Amazon as both print or as a Kindle ebook.
