Regarding The Paula Deen Issue: In reality, the language we speak - TopicsExpress

Regarding The Paula Deen Issue: In reality, the language we speak is a barrier between us all. Words are so incapable of expressing ourselves in the truest sense. The words we do use are unable to transcend the cultural void that separates the races. Words seem to be more poison and open to misinterpretation than loving and truthful. This comes down to a willingness to expand our consciousness beyond what we were raised to think is possible. The more limited the data, on any given subject, in your brain is, the more inept your linguistic skills will be; for something must be known before words can be created to describe it. One cannot converse beyond the limit of their knowledge, or awareness. The belief two people have towards one another will dictate how those two react and talk with each other, no matter how politically incorrect it is. This void in knowledge is a choice, not a circumstance, since everything a person could ever want to know in this day and age is but a finger stroke away on the computer. Ultimately, a mind that is unaware will not be able to communicate effectively to anyone else. Those who use derogatory slang, whether white, black or other, are demonstrating the absence of awareness; the absence of knowledge on a physical level. This world-wide unwillingness to progress mentally is why the world is still in the state of racial and religious unrest that it has been in for so long. There is no reason to continually degenerate our consciousness through the gradual reversal of mental evolution any longer when everything we need to be better than we were yesterday is right before our eyes. Those who would be offended by the use of harsh words are no more aware than the ones using the words, for a progressive thinker would see the vernacular limitations of the society they live in and be able to let the offensive suggestions go. A consciously forward person understands that they are more than words can describe, and words have no power unless power is given to them. Turn away from such limitations and you will reveal how unlimited you are. - JB Lewis
