Regarding my absence, as of late, in pixel form: As Jean Renoir averred, “The awful thing about life is this: everyone has their reasons. My own involve: My need to clear my being, for a time, of virtual dissonance. Thus freeing myself to scrawl in my notebook, strum my ukulele, peruse half-finished books, and play with my son (who, btw, began to develop a worrisome obsession with the electronic appliances being brandished by his parents). (My preference being: I hope that he will acquire a similar ardor for the non-virtual accoutrements available in his surroundings…so far so good on that account…) My expatriation will not be permanent. Any attempt to seek clarity and sanity, sans a commitment to hermitage, by avoidance of the media hologram will prove palliative. It is not propitious to ignore the criteria of ones times, even if it is soul-defying, for denial, avoidance and nostalgia provide a bloodless mode of refuge. In short, there is much that must be written and I am bereft of the propensity to remain mute for prolonged periods. Thank you to all who expressed concern regarding my absence. It fills my heart with gratitude to realize that I have been able to shamble across the abyss of isolation inherent to our era and find affinity with a number of you.
