Regardless of how the vote goes this week, I am encouraged by so many of the posts Ive read recently. While some have indicated that they do not or will not shop downtown and others are considering moving out of town, the current debate has motivated many of us, myself included, to visit downtown, get to know the shops and their owners and even spend a few bucks to keep our local businesses alive. Thats a great thing. We all have a choice, no matter what decision results on April 1. We can complain, we can support out of town businesses, we can move....OR we can get ourselves downtown, engage business owners to get excited about revitalizing the town we love, shop locally whenever possible, pick up a piece of trash if you see it on the sidewalk, smile and say hello to people you pass...become the change you want to see. No building or parking lot, no matter how big, should define a community. The people define it. We define it.
