Regardless of your opinion of pit bull type dogs, I think we can all agree that there seems to be some glaring discrepancies in this story and the events that have been documented by police and media. I find it difficult to understand why the rush to euthanasia, and question why no behavioral assessment was done on this dog. That would have been important information to have in my opinion. Yes of course there are unbalanced dogs, and dogs that are aggressive, and they are certainly not limited or unique to the bully breeds. The fact that this dog was not neutered is a big red flag in my opinion especially if the original statement of previous aggression was true. As an owner that is hugely irresponsible. The fact that pictures were on this mans FB page of the dog baring his teeth over a bone put questions in my mind not only of the dogs temperament but also if his aggressive behavior was encouraged in this home. Playing Keep Away with food or resources seems to be a really odd game as well. Or perhaps this man genuinely loved this dog and didnt recognize or address the issues his dog had. Either way without ALL the facts this event will be spun as yet another urban legend of how terrible bully breeds are which is incredibly sad and unfair to all involved.
