Regione Toscana Driven by the necessity of publishing to its citizens easily accessible geographic information, Regione Toscana has commissioned to GeoMind the elaboration of its aerial photo and of its DEM (digital elevation model) and the realization of a 3D viewer integrated in any web browser. The first prototype of the 3D geographic viewer for Regione Toscana is In volo sull’Isola d’Elba and it has a vintage look; The images used by this application were obtained with a computer vision algorithm used to color b/w aerial photo, eXtreme Pan Sharpening (XPS). Given the public appeal of In volo sull’Isola d’Elba, Regione Toscana has commissioned to GeoMind the XPS of b/w aerial photos all over Tuscany and the application TerraFlyer , which is based on Shockwave plugin in order to reach a vast audience. TerraFlyer has been used by public administration and by public utilities for event communication, for environmental planning and public safety. Last year the version has been published: TerraFlyer2, based on a proprietary plugin developed in C++, it is more flexible and powerful….
