Registration >> FAQs FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION (FAQ) ON REGISTRATION Attn: Direct Candidate / Institutional Candidate:- Registration form has been revised with respect to capturing communication information of the candidate such as Mobile No., Email Address etc. It is mandatory to use latest version of Registration Application Form (Revision No. 07 available in the website). Older version of registration application form will not be accepted with effectfrom July 2011 examination. Fresh Registration Q. Why a candidate is required to register with NIELIT? A. Registration is a mandatory pre-requisite for appearing in the O/A/B/C level Examinations conducted by the NIELIT. Q. Can a candidate register for more than one level at a time? A. No, at any point of time, a candidate can hold a valid registration, for one Level only. Q. How can a candidate get registered with the NIELIT? OR What are the documents to be attached with registration form? A. For registration, submit the filled in registration application from, attested copies of certificates of age proof, education qualifications, (experience certificate, for direct candidates, as per format given at: Click Here) and registration fees (demand draft for Rs.500/- favouring NIELIT”, payable at ‘New Delhi’). Q. How much is the registration fee? A. One time non refundable Registration fee is Rs.500/- at any Level and should be paid through a demand draft drawn in favour of NIELIT payable at New Delhi. Note that, the demand draft should be of THREE months validity. Please write your Name, Date of Birth, Level applied for at the reverse side of the draft. If applying on-line, you may pay using any on-line/core banking solution (CBS) methods. Q. What are the cut-off dates for submitting the registration application form? A. Registration is open throughout the year; however cut-off dates are there to process the application forms for any particular examination.The current schedule of cut-off dates for receiving of filled-in registration application form at NIELIT (H.Q.) NewDelhi: Level Cut-off Dates January Exams July Exams O Level Preceding 30th June Preceding 31st December A/B/C Levels Preceding 31st July Preceding 31st January However Accredited Institutes are allowed to submit the Registration Application Form of their candidates one month beyond the cut-off dates. Concerned Institutes / Direct Candidates are advised to strictly adhere to the cut-off dates w.r.t. submission of properly filled in registration forms so as to reach the NIELIT well before the last dates. It may be noted that, registration application form received after the cut-off dates will not be processed for the ensuing examination under any circumstances. Such forms will beprocessed for the next examination. Q. How can I know whether my application has been considered or not? A. List of newly registered candidate is made available at our website from August and February onwards for January and July exams respectively. Q. My registration application was rejected(Kept -in-Abeyance), what todo next? OR I have received a pink colour form NIELIT, why? A. If your registration application was rejected due to any deficiency, you will be given a chance to rectify the deficiencies by complying with the required document and/or fees within a scheduled time period. To re-consider your application, submit the filled in registration application form (you might have been issued a pink colour form by the NIELIT ) quoting the KIA number at the top left hand side corner and required compliance documents within 15 days of the issue of the Kept -in-Abeyance letter. Q. Can I get the registration fee back, in case my application is rejected? A. One time non refundable Registration fee is the charges against the Registration Application process, which is a one-time payment. One time non refundable Registration fee is neither refundable nor adjustable against any other payments/purpose. Q. If I missed the last date of registration, can I go for the same by paying some late fee or penalty? A. There is no such provision as yet. Transfer/ Shifting of registration Q. How can I Transfer my Registration from one level to another? Or What happens when a candidate applies for Registration at another level without qualifying all papers ofa particular level at which he is already registered? A. For transfer of Registration the candidate has to submit the Registration form (same as for fresh Registration Form) duly completed indicating the current Registration number and level along with all supporting documents and requisite fee. If the candidate has not cleared all the papers/practical/project as applicable to the level to which he/she is already Registered he/she will not be getting any benefits of the papers already cleared. The candidate has to submit an undertaking to the same effect that he/she will not claim any benefit of the already cleared papers of the current level and want to cancel it. Q. I am a direct candidate. Am I eligible to Register as direct candidate at the next higher level immediately after clearing the current level? A. To register at the next higher level, you have to fulfil the eligibility criteria for the next higher level at the time of seeking Registration withrespect to educational qualification and experience. You are advised to submit your application form so as to reach the NIELIT well before the cut-off dates. Q. I am Registered for O/A/B level but yet to clear the level. Can I Register for the next higher level? A. If you are eligible for the next higher level you could get Registeredfor that level after cancelling the existing Registration number. However, you will not be given any chance to clear the left over paper of the previous level as your registration for the lower level will not be valid any more. Q. I have cleared all theory papers of O/A/B level but left with practical papers. Am I eligible to Register for next higher Level? A. No. You have to clear all theory and practical papers as well as projects for shifting to the next higher Level. Q. I have cleared all theory and practical papers but left with project. Can I Register for the next higher level? A. Yes. However you will be allowed to appear for the exams only after submitting the project. Auto-Upgradation of level: Q. I am a student from an AccreditedInstitute. My result is awaited. How can I continue my study to the next higher level without losing a semester as the last date of submission of the Registration form is already over? A. The Registration rules provide for a scheme of automatic upgradation. Under this scheme, the candidates desirous of appearing for the immediate higher level after qualifying all papers of the lower level in the preceding examinations can take admission in the Institutes on provisional basis for immediate higher level after appearing for all papers of lower level and if on declaration of the results he finds that he has cleared all papers, he can submit his examination form for immediate higher level (through the institute in which he has taken provisional admission for the accredited course) using the same Registration number allotted to him for lower level. Along with his examination form, he should submit a Registration form for transfer of Registration and remit the requisite Registration fee separately. This facility is available to candidates from the Accredited Institutes only. Validity of Registration: Q. What is the validity period of Registration of different Levels? A. Registration for “O” and “A” level is valid for 10 (ten) consecutive examinations i.e. 5 years and “B” / “C” level is valid for 12 (Twelve) consecutive examinations i.e. 6 years. Q. Is a candidate required to seek Registration for every Examination? A. No,Registration for each Examination is not required till the Registration number allotted for the level concerned is valid. Q. What is the remedy if a candidatefails to qualify all papers within the validity period of the Registration? OR What is Re-Registration / Transfer of credit? How can a candidate get Re-Registered? What is the impact of Re-Registration on the papers already qualified? A. If a candidate fails to qualify all papers of a particular Level within the validity period of the Registration, he/she has to Re-Register and appear for the remaining papers. Validity of the Registration will then be extended for one time another full term i.e. 5/6 years to clear the left-out papers/project/practicals. One can apply for Re-Registration within a one year after the expiry of the validity of his/her registration. According to the new policy, for re-registration, a filled-up registration application form super scribed for RE-REGISTRATION at the top of the application as well as on the envelope to be submitted along with the original Identity card, all support documents, a demand draft of Rs.500/- favouring NIELIT payable at New Delhi. In case the identity card is lost; FIR copy reported to the police station along with an additional demand draft of Rs.100/- is to be submitted. In such a situation, a total amount of Rs.600/- in a single demand draft canbe submitted. Cut-off dates: Q. What is a last date for Registration at each Level? A. How can I change the level of Registration? A. For changing the level, the candidate has to register afresh with all documents and fee. Q. How to change my name in your database? A. Send plain application in case of surname change consequent upon marriage of female candidate. Submit affidavit signed in front of Oath Commissioner or a First Class Magistrate/Executive Magistrate, in case change in name on own volition. Requests for change of name based on Notary affidavits or Newspaper advertisement alone shall not be accepted. Q. How to get correction/addition done in my various particulars like Name / Father’s name/ Mother’s name/ e-mail Id/ Phone numbers/ Date of Birth etc.? A. Registration Allocation-cum-Identity Card Q. I am yet to get any I-card issued to me by the NIELIT? A. Send an application to the NIELIT quoting your Registration number. Further, the candidate may send a seperate application to change/correct the address, if it has been changed since he/she has Registered with the NIELIT. Q. I have lost my I-card. How can I get a duplicate I-card? A. For issuing of duplicate I-card, apply to NIELIT with the following documents: 1.Request on a plain paper mentioning your Registration number with a copy F.I.R. of the lostCandidate’s Identity Card(CIC) in case of lost CIC and a Demand Draftof Rs.100/- favouring NIELIT, Payable at New Delhi. Please write your Registration Number and Name in Capital Letters in the backside of the DD without fail, which should have a validity of Three months. OR b) in case of Faulty /mutilation of I-Card, Please Surrender the Mutilated/ Faulty CIC in original issued to you with a request. Further, the candidate may send a different application to change/correction of the address, if it has been changed since he/she hasregistered with the NIELIT. Q. I am yet to get the I-card/CIC from the NIELIT. The exam is nearer. How can I be allowed to give the exam? A. Identity Cards will be issued to allnewly Registered candidates , If for any reason, a candidate did not get the I-card till the examination, he/she can take along with him/herself any valid government issued photo I-card like the Driving License, Passport, Pan Card, Voter I-card etc to the examination hall as your identity proof. If the candidates don’t possess any of the above said cards, he/she can take the identity card issued by the accredited institute, provided it bearsthe photograph of the candidate and seal and sign of the competent authority of the institute. Miscellaneous Q. Is the courses offered by the NIELIT, are recognized by the Government? A. Yes, Level O/A/B is duly recognizedby Govt.of India. Please visit For (O/A) Leveland For (B Level). Recognition of C level is under process. Q. What are the fees to be paid to the NIELIT for different purposes? A. You have to pay fees for different purpose as follows: Registration, any level (By Draft only): Rs. 500/- Examination: Rs.500/- X no. of papers + Rs.30/- as postage charges Practical (per practical): Rs 300/- Project: O level: Only project Completion Certificate, No fees A Level: Rs.500/- B/ C Level: Rs.3000/- Fee charged by the institutes for different courses depends on the locality, facilities and infrastructures provided by the institutes. Q. Where can I get any institute accredited by NIELIT, in my locality? A. We have more than thousands accredited institutes for quality education all over India and abroad. All the institutes are evaluated by their performance and their status can be found in our web-site at nielit.in. You may find the institutes around your choice and visit them to decide which one to join. Q. Is there any course material available for any level of course? A. There is no course material for anyof our courses. However, CD are available for O level course on payment of Rs.450/-. You may ascertain availability/stock of the same before requesting. Further, there are recommended reference books for each module of the courses. Q. The institute I was registered is no more accredited by the NIELIT. I have still some papers to clear. How can I forward my examination form, as it requires the seal and signature of the accredited institute? A. If you have applied/Appeared for the said paper/module through any of the accredited institute earlier, then you need not approach the institute and send the examination form directly by filling up the roll no and exam (mm/yyyy) in the respective columns of the form; in which you have appeared for the paper(s).
