Registration Information ATTENTION, EIGHTH GRADE PARENTS! In February, we will begin the registration process at Kearney High School for incoming freshmen. The process will kick off with an 8th grade parent orientation held on January 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the KHS auditorium. At this meeting, we will introduce parents to KHS graduation requirements, as well as general college admission requirements. We will explain the KHS registration process and review the materials 8th grade students will be using to make registration decisions. Parents will have an opportunity to ask questions. During February, eighth grade students will meet with KHS counselors on two occasions. First, counselors will give an orientation presentation to small groups of students and distribute registration materials. When students receive their materials, they will also see teacher recommendations. Our eighth grade team teachers do a great job of making recommendations for freshmen course placements. Students and parents will have two weeks to review the materials and make course decisions. Parents are to sign the registration form. The KHS counselors will return to the middle school to meet with students individually. During this one-on-one appointment with the KHS counselor, students will review the registration paperwork and finalize their course decisions.
