Registration opens for 2014 Mayor’s Housing Summit Planning is well underway for Mayor Michael Fougere’s Housing Summit scheduled in Regina on October 21, 2014. Registration is now open to all interested in participating. “While we have seen significant improvement, Regina’s housing issues continue to be a priority for City Council,” said Mayor Michael Fougere. “The housing summit plays a key role in helping reach our ultimate goals.” In 2013, the City of Regina made significant progress in addressing housing issues including the completion of the Comprehensive Housing Strategy (CHS), organization of the Mayor’s Housing Summit and the creation of the Mayor’s Housing Commission. In continuing to move forward on housing issues, a second Mayor’s Housing Summit will be held at the Delta Regina Hotel. We are pleased with our progress, but there is still work to be done in order to meet the goals of the Comprehensive Housing Strategy and the policy objectives of the City’s Official Community Plan,” said Fougere. Speakers at the Summit will offer their vast knowledge, experience, innovative ideas and fact-based analysis on a variety of housing topics. The outcomes of the Summit will focus on preserving and growing affordable and below market housing through a variety of approaches that address Regina’s housing needs. While there is a registration fee of $175.00, representatives from registered, non-profit housing organizations, to a maximum of two participants, will be provided with free registration to ensure there is no barrier for anyone to take part.
