Regularly asked the difference between cycle paths, tracks and lanes. Most people think the white line means its a bike lane. It isnt. Its to encourage motorists to give space to cyclists. When there is no DEDICATED CYCLE LANE cyclist are entitled to THE SAME SPACE A CAR TAKES. And yes, two abreast is safe and legal. Please pass this all on to selfish dickhead bike haters who are too thick/envious/full of hate because they are change resistant to realise that we cyclists riding gives them more space on the road, more car parks, spacees in hospital beds, in the doctors waiting room, less work to do at work because we are more productive and healthier than they are etc...
