Regulations on ceiling fans? Yes, it sounds bizarre. No, it’s not a joke. The Department of Energy (DOE) is asking for feedback to evaluate potential energy conservation standards on ceiling fans. The deadline for commenting is June 14, 2013. Our concern with the government adding standards on ceiling fans is that these products are already energy-saving. In fact, even the regulatory agencies admit ceiling fans save money and are better for Mother Earth. See epa.gov/greenhomes/ReduceEnergy.htm and energy.gov/energysaver/articl...gy-saving-tips. The problem is many consumers don’t know about these savings. Adding new requirements to possibly gain minor energy efficiency improvements will reduce ceiling fan sales, thereby defeating their purpose. It just simply doesn’t make any sense. These standards may also limit the types of designs manufacturers are able to produce. Instead, we’d like the DOE to use their resources to implement educational and incentive programs encouraging consumers to use fans. Fanimation constantly formulates new strategies to save energy, a top-priority for our company. We have invested in several designs that are ENERGY STAR certified. Our product line will continue to evolve as technological advancements progress. We are asking you, our customers, to let the DOE know how you feel about the potential for added standards. Can you share a positive experience with our products? Maybe your electricity bill dropped, or you didn’t have to rely on your A/C as much? Would you like to see tax-incentives for using fans? The DOE needs to hear from you directly because you may be most affected!
