Reinvent U Daily Vitamin: Fitness Plateau Getting past a plateau often comes down to giving your body a new challenge. Plateau is usually caused by your body getting too used to what you’re eating or too good at the exercise. I’ve faced a number of plateaus in my journey. Below are a couple things that helped me. Try one of them, try a few of them, it can also help prevent one from starting! -It’s common to overestimate calories burned and underestimate calories eaten. Look for places where calories may hide such as dressings, spreads, sauces, croutons, and condiments. Keep a detailed food diary and keep an eye on your portions. -Increasing physical activity is particularly useful for moving beyond a plateau. -Change up your routine. If you are doing the same exercises over and over again, your body “knows” what to expect. -If your motivation is non-existent, write down all the reasons you originally wanted, and still want, to lose weight. Look at the list every day. Let friends and family know what you’re up to, and ask for their support. Make a vision board with photos and words visualizing your successful body transformation. -Be patient, put the work in, and wake up every day and say out loud “Giving up is not MY choice”.
