Relationship advice from Emilio Garza whose been with his fiance for 9 years. Thanks, Braa: 1. Go the extra mile: a long-lasting relationship takes a shit ton of effort and patience. Even though you love them to death, you still hate them at times - but knowing that he/she is worth it is what makes the tough times bearable. 2. Honesty: probably even harder than #1. Some people do this one a little differently, but its all about being about to give honest and constructive feedback about anything in life. Holding things in, sugar-coating things, or even sometimes just rolling with the punches are only a disservice to both of you. 3. Change is good: everyone changes over time, its gonna happen. Evolving and growing with a person is crucial - you have to let he/she and yourself pursue life goals and outcomes at their own pace. Keep 1 and 2 especially in mind when dealing with 3. 4. Time away from each other: while I definitely want to spend every minute with my fiance, I know that its not helpful to our relationship. Have your own friends, your own hobbies, your own space to truly solidify who you are and what you know/like. The goal is a successful relationship, not merging into a singular person/entity.
