Relaxing, sun caressed, plates of yummy food and a bar have a dark side! It is amazing what a weeks holiday can do, I now feel lazy, have put on weight and because I had stopped my normal energetic routine when I tried to start again I have strained my back and am now hobbling around!!! The last few days have not been as productive as planned on my return from a holiday in the South of France. I had planed to dig out the very large banana from the tunnel and plant it outside so I can redo the tunnel beds which need to be done before the first planting in mid November. The grapes still need to be harvested from the greenhouse and made into juice and the pruning of the vines; peach and nectarine are also top priority. I have managed to press the Fosters Seedling grapes from the freezer to start off another gallon or so of wine and cleared all the apples from the freezer crushed and pressed them to make another gallon of apple juice. It was while lifting out of the garage the rather heavy apple crusher that I did my back in so I have downgraded to making a start on cracking almond and hazel nuts and storing them in jars. I had thought that by cutting the grass just before I went away that that would be it for this year but I was wrong as it has grown a lot in a couple of weeks and very much needs cutting again. Still I must not complain for where we were staying in France it seems they have only had 2 lots of rain in 6 months, the ground there was very dry and where there was a hint of grass there was also an irrigation system going. I hope with climate change taking place this doesn’t happen here!
