Main St., Suite B, Rocky Ford, CO 81067, Phone 719.688.5026 First Friday Walk Sandi Dell, Cynthia Montini, and Paula Brubaker will be showing their quilts at the IDEA Center in Rocky Ford, starting on Friday, October 3rd from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Their show, sponsored by the City of Rocky Ford and Canyons & Plains, will remain at the IDEA Center until October 24th. Each year these ladies donate a quilt to the Arkansas Valley Fair which is raffled to provide funds for the Round House. Their quilt is a high light of the popular quilt show at the Fair. Cynthia and Paula have been quilting together for decades. After retiring from teaching at Jefferson Middle School, Sandi joined the group. They enjoy taking classes together, shopping for fabric, and sharing ideas. Only the quilt for the Fair is a shared project. All the other quilts are made individually. You will be fascinated and surprised to see the many other quilts they have made. Other merchants will be staying open until 7:00 p.m. making this a perfect evening to stroll down Main Street. Look for antiques at J.C. Mercantile and Two Dogs Howling. There will be music and photos at The Coffea Shop. I Need Fabulous has an eclectic mix of crafts, antiques and collectables. This is a great time to visit shops you may not have been in previously. Come to the opening on October 3rd and take advantage of the opportunity to chat with Sandi, Cynthia, and/or Paula about their quilts. Then visit the other merchants in our downtown Canyons & Plains (formerly known as Southeast Regional Heritage Task Force) is a heritage tourism development organization. Formed in 2003, C&P serves seven counties – Baca, Bent, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero, Prowers and eastern Las Animas. The non-profit group promotes visitation to and stewardship of the unique historical, natural and cultural assets of southeastern Colorado among residents, state, national and international audiences. Since its formation, C&P has garnered over $1 million in funding for projects in this area.
