Release of Steve Grands Kickstarter funded debut album pushed back to January 2015 Tells waiting fans: I promise you all of this is going to be worth the wait 08 SEPTEMBER 2014 | BY GREG HERNANDEZ Steve Grand fans who have been waiting patiently for the singers debut album are going to have to wait a little longer. Grand, who became an overnight sensation with his YouTube video All-American Boy in July 2013, announced over the weekend that his album will not be released until January 2015. The project, originally scheduled for late summer, is being funded by the $326,593 Grand raised through a Kickstarter campaign. This route was chosen because it enables him to make the record without a record company and to retain total creative control. I was very ambitious in wanting to get this record out, Grand says in a video to his fans. It just wasnt realistic though to think I could pump out a great record in just a few short months. The biggest cause for delay has been working around the busy schedules of some of the songwriters, producers and mixers who Grand has been able to bring on board with the Kickstarter money. I want it to be something that is really special for you guys for a long time, not just something you think is cool for a hot second, he says. I really want it to be something thats really meaningful in your lives for many years to come. Although production of the album will be completed well before January, Grand has been advised that the last two months of the year is far too competitive a time in the marketplace for him to release his debut album. But to help keep fans interested and perhaps patient will be the release of a new maxi single which will not only include his latest single but also two cuts from the album. He does not reveal the date of the maxi single. Grand admits that he has lost a lot of sleep over the decision to delay release of the album but he also knows the stakes are high. Youre not just helping me to put out an album, he tells his supporters. Youre helping me to launch a career. His song All-American Boy will be on the album. It has been viewed more than 3 million times on YouTube.
