Religion defends those who defend religion. That which is eternal, unchanging and perpetual is Sanatan and Sanatan Dharam is the most universal of all religions. The Bhagwat Dharma (Code of conduct of Bhagwat), Manav Dharma (Code of conduct for Human Beings) , Purush, Dharma (Duties of a Man), Stri Dharma (Duties of a Woman), Pati Dharma (Duties of a Husband), Pativrat Dharma (Duties of a Wife to Her Husband), Lok Dharma (Code of Conduct for the Mortal World or General Public), Parlok Dharma (Code of Conduct for the Other World or The World Beyond), Pitri Dharma (Duties of a Father), Putra Dharma (Duties of a Son), Guru Dharma (Duties of a Guru), Shishya Dharma (Duties of a Student), Jeeva Dharma (Duties of and towards All Living Beings), Deh Dharma (Duties towards the Body), Atam Dharma (Duties towards the Self), Daan Dharma (Code of Conduct governing Charities), Samanya Dharma (The Everyday Duties or Code of Conduct), Parma Dharma (The Ultimate or the Most Obligatory Code of Conduct), Aapad Dharma (Code of Conduct during Emergencies or Natural Calamities) and Ashram Dharma (the Code of Conduct for Life in an Ashram)-the essence all this put together is Sanatan Dharma. For the establishment and protection this Dharma God incarnates Himself in various forms from time to time-e.g. Shri Ram, Shri Krishan, Shri Shankar and Shri Durga and so on. To abide by these duties or codes of conduct to as best as one can is in fact to serve the Sanatan Dharma.
