Religious Freedom Applies to All Religions, Even Satan Worshippers. Indeed, religious freedom is part of the backbone of the Constitution. It’s not just for Christians, but for all beliefs as well. If the Oklahoma GOP really believes in religious liberty, they should put their money where their mouths are and allow other beliefs to be represented too. If not, then they should remove the Ten Commandments statue and stop getting involved in religion. This whole story began in December when the Satanic Temple filed papers asking to build their own monument on Okla. statehouse grounds. Just days later, a Hindu leader proposed erecting a giant monkey statue alongside the others. Of course, these ideas didn’t sit well with the Okla. GOP. Once other groups such as PETA and the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster joined the party, the OKCPC banned new applications. So, until a court decides the fate of the Christian monument, all of the other requests are on hold. It sounds like a lame excuse to keep other religious beliefs from being fairly represented. If the Satanic Temple is successful, the state’s Republicans will rue the day they decided to get involved in religion. Favoring Christianity over other beliefs is not only against the US Constitution, this trespass is in violation of the Okla. state Constitution as well.
