Remarkably tender moment. It has been my belief that as a society we have villainized police officers, as we have teachers and other public servants, because of a minority of bad apples and a media that is driven by sensationalism and a public that is fascinated with evil. Here is a man doing his job, and in a moment saved a life. Its moving, without the sappy music, but its what, Im sure, police officers face many times in their lives of duty. They do their job and in itself, its heroic. Im sure most young people who pursue a career as a police officer dont dream about the day they get to beat the crap out of someone on the street. But our society, with its thirst for finger-pointing and shocking behavior, prefer to focus on what is wrong with those who serve instead of what is right. This is a find example of what is right, noble, and probably more commonplace than we think, we just dont hear about it. Im sure theyll both never forget this.
