Remember how the City said it was doing a FULL EIR on the CRYSTAL - TopicsExpress

Remember how the City said it was doing a FULL EIR on the CRYSTAL GEYSER factory? They arent!! Unless we act immediately and dont stand for it. There is an informal scoping meeting on WEDNESDAY at 5:30 at the community center, we need to fill the room!! PLEASE attend! And read the below letter of information and request for letters to the City. Thank you for your participation! Comments Needed for Scoping Dear Friends, I wanted to be sure that you all are informed as to what is happening regarding the Crystal Geyser Plant and the upcoming EIR. The entire operation of the bottling plant is NOT included in the Notice of Preparation of a Draft EIR for the Mt. Shasta Sewer Line Improvements Project. What has happened since the City Council agreed to expand the EIR to include the plant operations? Were we lied to? Perhaps Crystal Geyser is refusing to cooperate with the City and now perhaps the City is forced into limiting the scope of the EIR. Or perhaps CG has simply been successful in lobbying City Council members and staff to limit the scope. What ever the reason, the narrowness of the project description means that it will be up to us, the public to insist that the EIR include the entire operation of the Crystal Geyser bottling plant. Your personal concerns are valid and needed! Only if the public is willing to demand that the full impacts of Crystal Geysers operations be included, will we get the fully expanded EIR we were promised earlier this year. To give you ideas (or you can simply cut and paste this paragraph,) your letter just needs to state that you insist that the draft EIR include the full operations of the Crystal Geyser bottling plant. Including build out descriptions for the Crystal Geyser Bottle Plant, total water usage by CG, effects on neighboring wells from industrial water extraction including overall aquifer demands and a water balance study, drought and industrial water extraction, lighting, night-time sky impacts, truck traffic, road damage, use of PET plastic usage vs. glass; costs to environment, PET plastic molding, noise and plant exhaust from bottle making and off gassing of drink products. Be sure your letter to the City states the above mentioned items plus any others you are concerned about regarding the sewer line improvement such as increased usage fees to city users and effects of large industrial users vs. future new home sewer lines. Title of your letter/subject: Comments on the Notice of Preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Mount Shasta Sewer Line Improvements Project Mail to or hand deliver to: Tammy Lapthorne, Deputy Clerk City of Mount Shasta 305 North Mt. Shasta Blvd City of Mount Shasta, CA 96067 or email it to: [email protected] You can ask for a receipt. Letter is due no later than Dec. 1st, 2014. Please try to get it in before Thanksgiving. Also the informal scoping meeting is Nov 12th at 5:30pm at the Community Center. Wed love to see you there. Lets fill the room. Oral comments will NOT be allowed so your letters are important and the only way to comment. Thank you for caring! And feel free to share this with your friends.
