Remember the Halloween blizzard of 1991 in Minnesota? Wendys - TopicsExpress

Remember the Halloween blizzard of 1991 in Minnesota? Wendys family was living in Augusta, GA at the time (no snow down there of course). Her father, Neil Holm, was installing a fuel pump on a car in the driveway and keeled over of a heart attack, dying immediately. We were living in Owatonna and we got 29 inches of snow, so the airport was closed and all of us (and the rest of Neils family which predominantly lives in MN and the Midwest) had a hard time getting flights to go to his funeral. We arrived just as the visitation was getting over. The winter of 91-92 was a particularly long and hard one on several counts. My mother died of cancer on March 15, 1992. Her grave is in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and so we had services in both MN and Michigan for her relatives but the burial wasnt until after the spring thaw. That year, we missed having snow in June by just a day or so. We had an inch or so of snow for Memorial Day weekend. Eight months of snow that year and losing one of each of our parents. (Our kids were pretty young at the time, so one of them came up with the bright idea of hey, why doesnt Grandpa Miller just marry Grandma Holm? :-) I guess it sounded logical to a childs mind but it was little awkward when he said it. ) So twenty two years ago today...heres some video of that major storm that was shown on TV last Halloween. Many years in MN the kids were snowsuits under their Halloween costumes because it is pretty cold. https://youtube/watch?v=ADyYJPOWruw&feature=share
