Remember the Needy at Christmas …..Cleric A special Christmas Carol service was organised by the Management of FUTA on 22nd December, 2014 at the new auditorium. Speaking at the carol service, Reverend Father Valentine Omolakin who took his Bible passage from the book of Luke Chapter 2 verse 1 – 14 stressed the need for Christians and the generality of the people to cultivate the habit of appreciating God who sends help and show mercies irrespective of our frailties .He said the birth of Christ is a prophesy and gift to the world. Quoting from the Book of Isaiah he described Jesus birth as one of the greatest events mankind has witnessed saying the prophecy in the Book of Isaiah ‘For unto us a child born to us a child is given, and the Government shall be upon His shoulder and its name shall be called, wonderful, counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace” cannot be controverted. Rev. Father Omolakin admonished Christians to seek help from Jesus in difficult moments since ‘He is more than enough to rely on at all-time even when man fails us, because He’s the master of the whole universe’. He however pointed out that Christmas season is one of the best seasons to show love to the less privilege around us. “ We shouldn’t be Christian by mouth by not giving out to the needy, Christmas is a season that we exchange gifts to the needy so that their soul can praise God in the face of continuous precarious events in the Country’ the Cleric declared. He also urged all Christians to remain persistent in Prayers why admonishing them not to forget our small Jerusalem which is Nigeria. In his remark, the Vice Chancellor< Professor Adebiyi Daramola felicitated with members of the FUTA community, and expressed his gratitude for their support for the management and contributing to the development of the University.
