Remembering Anthony T. Tony Thompson the drummer for 70s pop/disco group CHIC & along with Robert Palmer, John & Andy Taylor he rounded out the 80s band The Power Station. He was born this day in 1954 & raised in a middle-class community in Queens, New York. His long tenure with Chic, helped create hits such as Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah), Le Freak, and Good Times. He had worked with numerous artists such as Jody Watley, Madonna (on her 1984 album Like a Virgin), Rod Stewart, Robert Palmer, Adam Ant, Mick Jagger and David Bowie as his drumming skills were in high demand. Within a month of being diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) on November 12, 2003, just two months after The Power Station bandmate Robert Palmers death from a heart attack, Thompson passed away.
