Remembering Indiana State Rep. Phyllis Pond today, who passed away yesterday. 35 years in service as a Representative, the longest serving female representative in state history. Before political life she was a Kindergarten teacher, and her experience made her a passionate advocate for education. First woman to earn a seat in the front row of the House chamber, a place reserved for leadership and those with seniority. Phyllis Pond is someone who will be remembered for many great things; among them is being an example of how women in politics can be strong but still behave like a lady.
