"Remembering My Home" is a collection of short stories that I have - TopicsExpress

"Remembering My Home" is a collection of short stories that I have written over the years. The stories depict the reality of Africa and my own experiences growing up. They capture a variety of themes; love, Independence, war, childhood, school, politics, among many others. In all the pieces of work here, description is key, I use this style to create mental pictures as you read through, at the end of it I aim at making you part of the story. The African theme overrides most of my work. The continent has for long struggled to tell her story, in this publication you visit African prisons, you witness the hanging of a liberator, you are part of a dance, you rise and fall with the characters, you visit an old railway line and experience birth and death firsthand. You will join an artistic journey through the fantastical history of childhood, across the expanse of the continent, the scenery changing with the seasons, stopping at towns along the way, listening in to dreams, to hopes and to the beauty in these most articulate works. There are ten short stories that I have included in this publication. My poetic approach to writing ensures that as a reader you look forward to the next story. The stories herein include; The Story of Africa, Trying the African, In Pursuit of a Woman ,Memories of a Village Boy, On The Brink of Genocide, The Other Person, Faces, Standing alone, Dream Boogie; A Blacksmith’s story, The Antique. Happy reading. amazon/Remembering-My-Home-ebook/dp/B00F3B14HY/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1378837938&sr=1-1&keywords=mungai+munene
