Remembering Some Great teachers from Past.. a kind of Blast from the Past.... [1] Rabindranath Tagore - We call him Guru because he changed the defination of teaching in INDIA with his amazing ideas of teaching students, he make Santiniketan the connecting thread between India and the world [and] a world center for the study of humanity somewhere beyond the limits of nation, He personally mentored his students and guided them not just academically but also emotionally and spiritually. (y) [2] Savitribai Phule - First female teacher of first womens school in INDIA, she along with her husband started a school for girls in 1948. As Phule would walk to school, she would be abused as rotten eggs, cow dung, tomatoes and stones would be hurled at her, but this great lady never quit and by the end of the year opened five more schools for the girls, she got great courage to fight with the world and do the best for girls in Past. (y) [3] Ustad Allah Rakha Khan - Greatest exponent of Tabla, was also a beloved teacher of many students, he would become the first artist to play a tabla solo at the All India Radio. he trained a lot of young tabla players, his most famous disciple would be his son -- Ustad Zakir Husain, the man who would take the tabla to a new generation of musical exponents and listeners. (y) [4] Nissim Ezekiel - Poet Nissim Ezekiel, who helped the Indian English writing break away from its colonial shackles, was also a teacher. Ezekiels poems that helped Indian English find its voice has also inspired an entire generation of poets. Nissim Ezekiel mentored several of these young poets and also taught hundreds of wide-eyed students of English literature in Mumbai from 1947 to as late as the 1990s. There were many more names but some of these names are really meaningful to all of us who are studying in any institution, we should know about them and their contribution to the teaching world... A tribute to Teachers from my side who contibuted their best to teach their students in unique manner... They are in our Heart (y)
