Remembering an old dear friend and Detroit broadcasting icon Bill - TopicsExpress

Remembering an old dear friend and Detroit broadcasting icon Bill Bonds. He would stop into my Arthur nightclub on Washington Blvd in Detroit after his TV news broadcasts in 1968 and 69. My Maitred and captains would automatically take him and his friends to his favorite table and make sure he had the best of service. He called me The Polish Prince and we would kid each other about our Catholic upbringing with the usual alter boy cliche jokes. Bill attended Catholic schools in Detroit and I attended in Brantford, London and Toronto. Bill was also very friendly with all my staff as well as other clients in the dining room and at the bar. Bonnie and I ran into Bill at a GM function a few years ago and he wanted to sit down and catch up on all those years since his interview with me when I made all the newscasts with my pay TV Decoder Wars from my electronics stores in Detroit, Windsor, Toronto and Montreal. He also wanted to know about our mutual friends from those nightclub days who are not with us any more. Bonnie and I send our deepest condolences to Bills wife, Karen; his son, John; and his two daughters Kristine and Mary. freep/story/news/obituary/2014/12/13/bill-bonds-channel-broadcaster/20375881/
