Remembering growing up in Mayo, Maryland..... Walking to Selby on the Bay to go swimming, cannon balls off the pier, eating frozen milky way bars or pretzel sticks with mustard, the long, tiring walk home after swimming all day, popping tar bubbles on the road, standing on rainbow oil spots and making a wish, riding around on our bikes with someone on the handlebars, playing softball or kickball, asking the magic 8 Ball questions about our future and listening to music on our transistor radio, playing 45s on our record prayer, going to the drive in movie, being able to buy candy bars for a nickel, sodas for a dime and taking drink bottles back to the store for a 2¢ deposit, answering questions in a Slam Book, writing your deepest dark secrets in your diary, swinging from a rope over the water, sleigh riding in the winter, making a igloo after the snow plow came around, in the summer there was a truck that came around spraying for bugs, the book mobile and the ice cream truck, antennas on your house and not many stations on your tv, going from black and white to color tv, Teen Club at the MCA Hall and the twist. Funny, I remember I couldnt wait to grow up and now look, Im sitting here remembering and wishing I could relive it all over again!! Oh for the good ole days!!!
