Remembering her. Sometimes it was a slipper. Sometimes a steel - TopicsExpress

Remembering her. Sometimes it was a slipper. Sometimes a steel spatula. Or even a broom sometimes. Shed be running behind me in the whole house to catch me and give me a spank. Not because I failed in exam or something like that. But because I dared to skip the meal for a cricket match. Or played a prank on grandfather. Or stole comics from the neighborhood bully. She was the most patient person of all I have ever met. She would try to answer all my inane curiosities as rationally as possible for her. Her throwing up hands if she didnt know the answers was a special treat to watch. This was my way of getting back at her for hounding me. Those discussions was our little secret that no one in the family knew about. She was my best buddy. I got to know what love is, from her. After all she was my first. My first mentor too. She always laid more focus on mental strength than physical. She was my retreat. When whole world seemed cruel she was the only place I would find peace and then prepared me to go back and fight the world back. She was magic. Shed watch movies with me and cry. She seldom cried in real life though. That was our another unspoken about, secret. I was her only confidante, or so I loved to think, and she was mine. Oh but she could really torture. The way she would use comb on my scalp when I had lice, was the only thing I hated her for. She wouldnt care if I was crying or seething in anger. Only frigging thing that mattered for her was to get rid of those pests off my head, as if jealous of them for sharing me. But then she would make up for it by oiling my hair and giving me massage. Instant magic of her hands worked without fail. She would fight the world for me in public. But in private, wed be back to same old chase with her right hand waving slipper or spatula or broom. Miss you mum. The only mother Ive ever known. Mother Indias and mother cows and mother earths can go screw themselves for I care. Thank You Subrata for prompting the flashback.
