Remembering my 50th birthday in Kiribati Islands! Kalasi, Fijian missionary who was my neighbor, cook not bake (no oven)flour and put margarine for icing with a huge candle on top and wrote 50 on a paper...brought the cake in the middle of the night...I mean 12 midnight! !!! Kalasi and the girls sang right by my window while I was sleeping. Scared me so much I jumped out of the bed and trying to think what was going on.... they sang so many versions of happy birthdays song, I was wishing to stop..... then they came in the house while no electricity. I had to cut, no actually saw the cake because they did not have yest.......What a memory! I thank God for the people do care and love! It makes life beautiful because of them! God blesss!
