Remembering the Life and Legacy of Mr. Jerome Whitley, Jr. ... affectionately known as JJ 😇 It is with a heavy heart that I join you all in mourning the loss of one of the most Godly Business Men I have ever met. In honor of his family, the clergy and all of you. I wanted to take this time to share with you-- the man that I had the pleasure to know. My most memorable interaction with Mr. Jerome Whitley Jr. was during a tragic fire in our community where three young children perished. During the planning of the final arrangements, It was at that moment that I felt—“I” was in the presence of a man that operated in the SPIRITURAL rather than the natural concerning his craft. I felt it was his FAITH, and Godly character and nature that ushered in God’s presence and helped each and every one of us involved get through a heart wrenching time. In fact-- as I look back, my heart is warm because I now realize that the healing process actually started when he stepped in-literally. There was a lot of hurt, emotions were high and the mere grief seemed to overtake all in involved. Jerome’s’ professionalism, kindness and love showed me that he exemplified the model of God’s LOVE for human life. Additionally, he, like Peter spoke of Gods ways in Acts 10:24, showed the same compassion & care of all persons, regardless of their circumstance. Jerome worked diligently that families most trying and difficult times were made less burdensome with his gentle ways. In reading his BIO- it spoke to his building his business by first learning and honing his passion. At a young age he began to develop and prepare himself to flourish as an entrepreneur. Many emerging entrepreneurs are trying to find their way-- but he found, he worked and he asked God to implement his calling. His calling was above reproach- so when you think about where we’re at in our community- I am so proud to say that my Brother in Christ, Mr. Jerome Whitley has left a legacy for all of us to follow. He has left a legacy that people-- young and old can admire. He taught us that giftedness and staying focused can move you from internship to successful business owner. In our Holy Scriptures, the book of Timothy tells us to not let others despise you because of your youth. Jerome may have competed against seasoned business owners-- but today in your presence we bear witness of a life that showed that youthfulness doesn’t have to impede your progress. We bear witness that God made provision for his chosen vocation. May our community continue to remember a Godly business and family man, the young brother, our friend-Mr. Jerome Whitely—a man of integrity- a man who has left a mark that cannot be erased- because the hand of God chose him-- to show us-- what the Heart of God-- looks like.
