Reminder - Keeping Kids Safe Project - Hixson Autoplex - Leesville, La. The Vernon Parish Sheriffs Office is working in conjunction with the Keeping Kids Safe Project on a FREE safety event on November 21st & 22nd in Leesville. The Keeping Kids Safe Project travels around the country providing free digital fingerprinting and photographs for children and their families. The Keeping Kids Safe Project strives to provide families with connections to strong community resources and educates families on various ways to ensure the safety and continual positive development and growth of their children. Parents and children of all ages are invited to this event which is one of the top child safety programs in the country. Time is critical in the recovery of missing children and the gathering of these resources is vital in the recovery of a child. This event will include FBI quality digital fingerprints and photographs. Fingerprints are captured using an inkless digital scanner which produces high quality fingerprinting images that are printed on a record and then provided to the parents for safekeeping. The only record of the prints is sent home with the parents and there is not database that retains the information. In the event of an emergency parents will be able to turn the file over to the authorities anywhere in the world to instantly aid in the investigation, saving crucial time and resources.
