Reminder 2: You better be the best with ..............!! May I act first and foremost IA. A lil lengthy it is but I found a NEW STRANGE thing here!! _Say, Come, I will recite what your Lord has made impermissible for you. [He commands] that you not associate anything with Him, and to parents, good treatment, and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them. And do not approach immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed. And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed] except by [legal] right. This has He instructed you that you may use reason. [Al-Anam;151] Explanation: When we start reading this ayah, we expect that it include things which are impermissible. Lets make a list of these impermissible (haraam) things: 1) You dont do shirk with Allah. 2) I am skipping this point to be explained later. (interesting it is) :) 3) You are not gonna kill ur children bcs of bankruptcy. Allah will provide them too. 3) Stay away from all forms of shamelessness (indecency), whatever is obvious and whatever is hidden of it. 4) Dont kill a person without justification. So there are major things we are stopped from in this ayah. Allah is giving us this counsel but in the MIDDLE of it, He says: BE THE BEST YOU COULD POSSIBLY BE TO YOUR BOTH PARENTS . Everything in the ayah is a prohibition. Everything was a dont. Only do in this ayah is Goodness To Parents. You know why this is rhetorically so important?! Allah is saying Anything short of the best to ur parents, You better not do. There is no other commandment in Islam for which we have to be our best for it to be acceptable and if you dont do your very best, you are actually in sin. No such commandment is Islam except about Parents. The ayah is what is haraam. If I dont have perfection in my prayer, I am not sinful technically, not in haraam atleast but if I do anything to parents which is anything less than the best I could do, I am IN HARAAM. Which action is it which should be best?! Now Allah hasnt specified anything. Everything for parents should be the best: best gifts, best food, BEST TIME, best manners, best speech, best thoughts, best in patience, in attitude, in body language. The way of ayah is such that if some one says, What I am saying is FINAL. I dun wanna listen to ur special case. Like if sum one says it doesnt apply to me. I cannot stand my parents, they never listen to me or anythinggg. Doesnt matterrr. When it comes to ur parents, IHSAAN.
