Reminiscing of when I was a child. It is amazing how I didnt realize I was poor CUZ everyone around me lived the same reality. While I was growing up on the south side of Chicago, living in the projects (the pit), I never really thought too much of such conditions. I remember seeing the cops come in and arresting groups of people, most were friends of my family yet I dont ever really recall thinking too much of it, not sadness, not anything. It was kinda the norm so to speak. I think of that time in my life and I think of playing kick the can and learning how to jump a fence by flipping over it, scaling the sides of buildings, or even skeeching on the backs of cars -- that was ALL SEEMINGLY sooo much fun But AS I REMEMBER NOW--- it was soooo dangerous! I guess what I am thinking about is how my point of view has changed. I am thinking of how the world has appeared to change. As I reflect on what was and how I actually saw the environment so differently than what I view it today, i am amazed I am alive when I think of all the crazy things I did as a child, not really seeing the harm. With that in mind, I can say that daily I still am learning realizing that days, months, even years pass and I will reflect on a new truth learned concerning something happening long ago, in my life. Then I think of how our children are smarter, quicker than what we were - elaborating off lessons of long ago even changing the understandings we grew up on. It makes me think about how clearly we ever really see anything. After all, as I mature even today, the environment seems to take on different attributes -- that were and have always been there but til now, were in the backdrop somewhere, never really noticed. Just wondering how much of this world do we really see? Experience? Know? Do u really get the chance to see and enjoy the moments we are given or have u bought into this hurried pace and keeping up with the jones, like the most of us.
