Removing a photo from a glass frame is often very risky, as any - TopicsExpress

Removing a photo from a glass frame is often very risky, as any slight moisture or change in temperature over time can make the photo stick to the glass surface. This has happened with the photo here. In this case I have restored the image, as the damage was minimal. If a photo is stuck to glass I would always recommend leaving it where it is, as some damage (especially to faces) can be irreparable, but there are sometimes occasions where keeping the image in the frame is not an option (i.e. posting the image overseas or scanning to enlarge etc). For these occasions the most important this is to make a copy BEFORE attempting to remove it. The best way to do this is to take a photo of the photo. The easiest method is to use a flatbed scanner, but this can often produce a less crisp image, as it is essentially behind two layers of glass. For the best result, use a digital camera (high quality phone cameras are fine), and photograph the image in a room with no direct light, so as not to create a reflection. Dont use a flash, and to avoid as much reflection as possible, photograph the image at an angle. If the photo quality is high enough then I will be able to straighten it out digitally for you afterwards. The other thing to remember when framing your own photos, is try to use a photo mount, so the image isnt physically touching the glass. This will make it much easier when it comes to removing images in future. Image restored by Tom Marshall at PhotograFix - Restored and Colourised Photos 2014.
