Removing the Veil from Gods Nature In Jesus’ day and before, - TopicsExpress

Removing the Veil from Gods Nature In Jesus’ day and before, no one really understood the Old Covenant and the Prophets, not even the great New Testament Hebrew scholar Saul—only Jesus. It takes Jesus to open the eyes of a mind and heart. When this happened to Saul/Paul he was so radically transformed the Jews wanted to stone him. This should give us a clue about how easy it is to misunderstand the Old Covenant and the Prophets, no less the identity of God. In fact we are told that the Old Covenant is veiled, that is, Jesus is veiled in it. Now since Jesus is the exact representation or imprint of God’s nature, the implication is that the nature of God is also veiled in the Old Testament. To understand the God of the Old Testament we need to see and hear through the nature and perspective of Jesus, not the perspective of the Old Testament writers: “But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed” (Cor. 3:16). The danger is, if we don’t let Jesus open our minds and hearts to the Old Testament, when we read it the veil will remain unlifted so we do not see the true heart and glory of God.
