Rendell says Hanger is most substantive responding to Corbett Harrisburg – Former Governor Ed Rendell praised John Hanger’s plan to legalize and tax marijuana in a Philadelphia City Paper interview published today. Calling Hanger’s position on marijuana reform “brilliant,” he also praised Hanger’s sharp critique of Governor Corbett’s policies. “Ed Rendell praised my plan to legalize and tax marijuana,” said Hanger. “He said that he would have the same approach to marijuana reform as I have – legalizing medical marijuana, decriminalizing recreational use, then full legalization after watching how legalization plays out in Colorado and Washington.” “The City Paper article also makes it clear that I am the only candidate willing to take a position in favor of marijuana legalization,” said Hanger. “While the other candidates equivocate, I am ready now to end the expensive mass jailing of people, especially African-Americans, for the act of possessing small amounts of marijuana. I’m firmly saying, “Jobs not jails. Schools not jails.” “We can regulate marijuana and more effectively keep it away from minors and tax it using the revenue for job creation and education,” said Hanger. “The pundits and political elites do not understand the power of this issue,” said Hanger. “This is about liberty and justice, and it’s building a potent new political movement. Our campaign is poised to win and shock the elites.”
