Reno Rodeo results from 06/27/2013 Reno Rodeo Sixth Performance Results-June 26, 2013 Stall takes bull riding lead at Reno Rodeo RENO, NEV., June 26, 2013 --- Brett Stall is a long way from Detroit Lakes, Minn., but the near-capacity crowd at the sixth performance of the Reno rodeo made him feel right at home on Wednesday night. Stall had an outstanding effort on the Western Rodeo bull named Big Jake to take the lead in bull riding with an 89. And, to top it off, two other men had 87-point efforts to tie for second place. Wyatt Mecham, from Heber City, Utah had held the lead since his 86-point ride in the third performance. Currently 49th in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings, Stall has some ground to make up to qualify for his second Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR). He became the first man from Minnesota to compete at rodeo’s championship event last December in Las Vegas. So far this year he has earnings of $11,683. He could double that here, gain some momentum going into the lucrative Fourth of July run and get a pair of silver championship spurs to add to his trophy case. A beef cattle ranch and hay operation keeps Stall busy whenever he isn’t riding bulls. Jake Wright, from Milford, Utah, still leads the saddle bronc riding, but two other NFR qualifiers are giving him a run for his money. Chet Johnson from Sheridan, Wyo., had an 84 on Slash T Rodeo’s No Angel and Cort Scheer had an 83 on Western Rodeo’s Miss Linda. Combined with their scores from the fifth performance, they are tied for second place with 162 points on two. Wright has 169. In the women’s barrel race, Nicole Aichele from Walla Walla, Wash., moved into second place. She is just a one hundredth of a second behind Sherry Cervi from Marana, Ariz. Aichele has a total time of 34.44. Sue Smith tied for the fastest time of the rodeo on Wednesday night when she stopped the clock in 17.15 seconds. She is now in third in the overall standings with 34.60 News and Notes: Reno Rodeo -Friday night June 28 is Pink Night (wear pink) to recognize Moms on the Run and breast cancer awareness.
