Renovations Day 38 - Friday Aug 29 - countertops installed! Sink in place but not hooked up. Handles on all cabinets. Very exciting to see things coming together, with floor laying planned for Tuesday, Wednesday and appliances arriving Friday. The countertop - for those interested - is a grey laminate. We considered a mid-range quartz countertop and got prices for both. Laminate: $1,000 or Quartz: $7,000. Not a hard choice, since the quartz would then have cost more than our new stove, fridge, dishwasher and microwave/range hood combined with money left over. Quartz, milestone, marble and granite all look great and allow below counter sink mounting but to us the cost is not commensurate with the benefit.
