Renowned Johns Hopkins surgeon and principled limited government constitutional conservative Dr. Ben Carson rose out of the back of the pack to take, and now hold for a second week, fourth place in the poll. Carson was joined this week by another outspoken principled limited government constitutional conservative; Colonel Allen West, the former Florida Congressman and distinguished Army veteran. What seems to be the common trait among the top five vote-getters in our straw poll is that they are all “boat-rockers” of a limited government constitutional conservative bent – the establishment Republicans on the ballot have been largely relegated to the bottom of the list. We think this portends well for Republican chances in 2016.
